Art Statement
My works are visual depictions of movement resembling a flow of water. From my rain series, having downward strokes, it has evolved into bolder and free-willing brush strokes.
I start by covering the canvas with modeling paste and using my palette knife I scrape it in free-flowing movement creating variety of shapes and forms. It is in this stage where I edit or cut-off some unwanted shapes and add other interesting materials available. Once dried, I paint it over with acrylic paint. The result is a vividly hued and highly textured abstraction with those shapes and forms one automatically associates with a rivulet.
The sense of drama from my color combinations, heightened by a luxuriance of expressionist touches such as dribbles and drippings of pigment, transparencies of radiant light. Despite a subject that lends itself to some rowdy execution (splashes and drippings), these are highly disciplined works, with tempered lyricism and surprising quietude.
